FITCHBURG – Hunters are reminded that the gun deer season continues in the chronic wasting disease (CWD) zones of south central Wisconsin.

The gun season runs through Jan.31 in the CWD Intensive Harvest Zone of western Dane – eastern Iowa Counties and a small portion of southern Sauk County.

Gun deer hunting runs through Dec. 15 in the CWD Management Zone, which encompasses all or part of 11 counties and 15 deer management units, closes for a week, and then reopens on Dec. 21 and continues through Jan. 3, 2003

Deer hunting also is allowed in Governor Dodge, Mirror Lake, Devil’s Lake, Natural Bridge, Rocky Arbor, Yellowstone and Cadiz Springs State Parks through Dec. 15. Contact the park office for hunting permits and property maps. Vehicle admission stickers are still required.
