Charges are expected against a Lake Holcombe man who allegedly trapped live deer, keeping them in pens with deer on his licensed deer farm.
State conservation wardens on Tuesday entered the fenced property of Roger E. Hattamer, 51, 30759 260th Ave., Holcombe, in northern Chippewa County with search warrants and seized 19 illegally possessed white-tailed deer, which were later killed.
Co-mingling wild and captive deer violates laws designed to prevent the spread of transmissible diseases such as Chronic Wasting Disease and tuberculosis, said Department of Natural Resources Chief Warden Randy Stark in a statement from the DNR. |
