Raleigh, N.C. (October 25)—The NC Wildlife Resources Commission, with support from the NC Department of Agriculture, is acting with vigilence to keep chronic wasting disease out of North Carolina. To this end, the Commission temporarily amended several sections of the NC Administrative Code on October 8, 2002. These amendments are designed to enable the Commission to monitor captive-held cervids more closely.

The amendments are as follows:

15A NCAC 10B .0101 IMPORTATION OF WILD ANIMALS AND BIRDS 15A NCAC 10H .0301 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS 15A NCAC 10H .0302 MINIMUM STANDARDS 15A NCAC 10H .0303 FORFEITURE

A public hearing on these amendments will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2002 at 2:00 pm in the Ground Floor Hearing room of the Archdale Bldg, 512 North Salisbury St., Raleigh, N.C. Written comments can be submitted to:
